Do you suffer a lot from outside noise?
Are you bothered by noise from outside? Or do you want to prevent that others are irritated by the noise you create? Sound insulation can offer the solution to keep out noise, or to keep it in.
Reduced noise nuisance through the use of acoustic materials
The construction, the location and the cause of unwanted noise can determine how sound insulation is used as well as the type of materials that can be used.
Sound insulation can be found in various places: sound enclosures for engines and systems, in industrial machinery, compressors, generators, facade panels, convector cabinets, air ducts, walls, floors and pipes.
It is particularly useful if sound penetrates a closed structure or wall. And is much less useful if these contain gaps or openings that cannot be sealed.
Wall sound insulation
Adding weight to an existing wall is an option to block sound as far as possible. But if the wall is of single construction, this will need to be at least doubled to have a noticeable effect. That is why this method is mainly suitable for thin or light materials. Installing a mass mat, such as the ISOPARTNER Netherlands Baryfol, Caldifol P or Caldifol FR is a good option in such cases. Anti-rumble mats Sonivibro are also an alternative for sound insulation. These are manufactured from bitumen and are heavy.
Pre-wall
Adding sufficient weight to a concrete or brick wall is somewhat more difficult. In such cases it is better to install a stud wall. ATIS offers sound-insulating sheets including Baryfloor (wood), Polysonic (metal) and Sonodamp (sandwich panels) as a solution.
When creating a stud wall, ISOPARTNER Netherlands vibration damping solutions including Vibrafon, Sylomer, Sylodyn or Rugran are extremely suitable.
Ceiling sound insulation
A ceiling fitted with sound insulation is often a lowered, suspended ceiling.
ISOPARTNER Netherlands vibration damping solutions including Vibrafon, Sylomer, Sylodyn or Rugran are extremely suitable for this.
Floor sound insulation
Sound insulation using a filler or a suspended floor are options depending on the floor type. As well as the above mentioned products for ceilings, Baryfloor and Baryfloor Light are extremely suitable for floor sound insulation.
Sound insulation involves blocking out sound from outside (or vice versa) by damping or blocking the sound waves.
It soundproofs a wall, ceiling, floor or structure.
There are two main options: adding filler/weight or adding an extra (usually suspended) layer.
Materials such as soft foam, polyester wool, rockwool or glass wool are often considered to be sound insulating. This is, however, not the case; these materials hardly block any noise. The purpose of these products is to absorb sound. These materials do, however, help to improve the sound insulation of partition walls if they are installed between the existing wall and the partition wall. The main ISOPARTNER Netherlands product for sound insulation with glass wool is Airisol, with rockwool it is Calroc and with polyester wool it is Acupol.
